Declining trend in number of knowledge workers to the Netherlands
In 2024, the number of applications for a residence permit as a highly skilled migrant, European Blue Card, and Intra Company Transfer has decreased compared to 2023. And in 2023, the number of applications was lower than in 2022. The downward trend continues.
The number of applications in the category ‘Knowledge and Talent’ at the IND, over the past years:
- 2022: 33,020
- 2023: 25,870
- 2024: 21,730
The top three countries of origin of knowledge workers who came to the Netherlands in 2024 are as follows:
- India
- Turkey
- China
