Kroes Advocaten on the possible loss of Dutch nationality of 20 soccer players in the Indonesian national team.
This week our attorney Inge te Pas responded in the magazine Voetbal International to the naturalization of 20 Dutch soccer players to Indonesian national in order to be able to play and represent Indonesia in the Indonesian national soccer team. The question is whether these soccer players have not (unintentionally?) lost their Dutch nationality as a result of this naturalization.
After all, on the basis of Netherlands Nationality Act 2003, a Dutch citizen automatically loses Dutch nationality when voluntarily adopting another nationality. There are exceptions tot his, but at first glance they do not seem to apply.
